Robert Deloss “Bob” Vollmer, 95, of Fishers, IN (formerly of Francesville, IN) passed away peacefully at his home in Fishers on December 24, 2019 where he had resided since 2018. Bob was born on May 2, 1924 to the late Fred L. and Eva Mae Salrin Vollmer in Hebron, IN. He spent his early years in Medaryville, IN before moving to Francesville and later graduating from Francesville High School. In 1943, Bob enlisted in the US Army and spent three years serving with the 66th Infantry Division “Blank Panther Division” in Northern France during which time he was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was a lifelong member of the Francesville American Legion. On September 1, 1943, Bob married Helen Wendt with whom he shared life together for 76 years. Bob was a longtime member of St. James Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville. He owned and operated Vollmer Construction in Francesville for many years having built and remodeled numerous homes in the area. Bob was a member of Royal Center Lodge #585 F&AM, earning his Award of Gold in 2002. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by: Denise (Dave) Neff, Montpelier, IN Daughter Janice (Don) Partlow, Lafayette, IN Daughter Mark (Bonnie) Vollmer, Westfield, IN Son Jenny (Olivier Delers) Neff, Richmond, VA Granddaughter Melissa (JR) Rees, McDonough, GA Granddaughter Sara (Jack) Feliciano, Noblesville, IN Granddaughter Andrea (Craig) Blissitt, Brookston, IN Granddaughter Joshua (Casey) Vollmer, Anna, TX Grandson Jacob Vollmer, Richardson, TX Grandson Trenton (Ondraa) Hall, Lafayette, IN Grandson Jeremy (Megan) Vollmer, Arvada, CO Grandson James (Alli) Vollmer, Charlotte, NC Grandson 5 Great Grandchildren Fred (Dee) Vollmer, Jr., Brother Ruth Anne Vollmer, Sister He was preceded in death by: Fred L. and Eva Mae Salrin Vollmer, Parents 3 Sisters and 3 Brothers Visitation will be from 12 Noon-2 PM EST Saturday, January 4, 2019 at St. James Salem United Church of Christ (10934 W. 600 S. Francesville, IN 47946). A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM EST Saturday, January 4, 2019 at St. James Salem United Church of Christ with Rev. T.J. Jenney officiating. Burial will take place at Roseland Cemetery in Francesville, IN. The American Legion will conduct Military Graveside Services. Online Tributes may be offered at www.frainmortuary.com. Local Arrangements have been entrusted to Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, IN.
