Obituary of Jack L. Giselbach

Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jack L. Giselbach, 87, of Ora, IN went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.  He passed away unexpectedly at Northwest Health Porter Hospital in Valparaiso, IN.  Jack was born on November 26, 1934 in Elwood, IN to the late Joseph Raymond and Helen Bernice [Green] Giselbach.  He loved the outdoors and had fond memories of playing in the family apple orchid in his youth.  Jack was a talented young athlete who excelled in basketball, football, and baseball.  He volunteered for the US Navy and served during the Korean War.  On September 28, 1977, he married the love of his life, Carole York, in Ft. Wayne, IN.   Jack retired from the Indiana Department of Corrections after nearly 20 years of service.  He worked at Westville Correctional Facility and Medaryville Youth Camp.

Jack enjoyed helping others and was a former member of the Jaycees in Albion, IN.  He had a lifetime of love for gospel music and enjoyed singing with the Lake Shore Gospelaires.  Jack’s love for the outdoors led him to become a Park Ranger at Chain O’ Lakes State Park in Albion.  He was avid outdoorsman and had good memories of camping with his parents, family, and friends.  Jack’s life was absorbed by caring for those he loved.  He was a hardworking and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Jack loved his family very much, especially spending time with his grandchildren.  He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
